March 9, 2012
Right before Ginger's third adventure of living back in NYC, she revisited her alma mater James River High School in Midlothian, VA to catch up with her favorite english teacher. During her senior year she was required to donate a work of art to the school before graduation, so in 2000 Ginger collaborated with her favorite teacher to paint a "Romeo & Juliet" mural on her classroom wall.

It's amazing what can be learned and developed over twelve years! During this most recent visit Ginger couldn't stand how unfinished the likeness of Romeo and Juliet seemed, so before the move she gave the mural a facelift! Originally, Ginger didn't fully understand color theory nor did she have the patience or follow-through to learn how to paint realistically.

This mural was inspired by Lawrence Olivier's 1968 film version of "Romeo & Juliet".

August 2011:
Ginger happily delivered this portrait commission to a mother whose daughter died over 20 years ago in a car accident at age three. The mother's wish is for everyone to know that her daughter is in Heaven and despite it all, she still loves Jesus! The mother envisioned sweet Jackee in the clouds with angels, but since it is hard to know specifically what angels look like, Ginger chose to keep Jackee in a type of floating cloud-like atmosphere...

October 2010:
"Time Capsule: BC-AD" show a great success!

After cleaning out the art space because of the fire (which miraculously did not mess up any of Ginger's artwork!), she finally had a chance to look at everything and count how many pieces sold:TWENTY! Never before has Ginger sold that much at once at an art show!

20 is the number of redemption (noun 1.an act of redeeming or the state of being redeemed.2.deliverance; rescue.3.Theology.deliverance from sin; salvation.4.atonement for guilt.5.repurchase,as of something sold.6.paying off,as of a mortgage, bond,or note.7.recovery by payment, as of something pledged.8.conversion of paper money into specie.) .

Too cool. God is good all the time.

Press Release:
"Time Capsule: BC-AD" Unveiling!
All of the old becomes new

bcadfinalshowsflyer.jpg
While only encapsulated for a year and a half, it feels like forever since anyone has seen Ginger Pennington's artwork in person! Sealed away in storage for a time capsule, Ginger put away the past ten years of paintings, drawings, limited edition prints, and objets d'art so she could clearly focus her energies on her new path.

Ginger invites you to step inside her "Time Capsule: BC-AD", a show hosted by Patricia Guillouard Adams at Carytown Teas in Richmond, VA. A blast from a not-so-distant past, the show reflects how much can change in life at a moment's notice, ultimately serving as a reminder of the promise that out of the darkness we can find light and life through Jesus Christ! The time capsule images "BC" ( Before Christ, or life of self) directly illustrates life without hope versus life after hope "AD" (Anno Domini, or death to self). An amazing contrast reflected visually, the six pieces from "AD" include oil paintings in both realism and photo-realism genres and highlight a stark difference in both perspective and theme. The 30+ pieces included in the "BC" category show the futile moments of raw emotions going deep and dark while always hopelessly trying to mask that with an ironic mix of playfulness.

Shortly before Ginger decided to leave NYC, an unfortunate disaster in her apartment occurred, causing her to lose nearly all of her possessions and thousands of dollars in art supplies. Thankfully, all of her artwork remains in tact so she is thrilled for the opportunity to gather it from storage and open it up to sell again. She will use the proceeds from the silent auction to buy more art supplies and tools so that she can continue to create her next body of work.
